Course Offerings

Briggs is a traditional and comprehensive urban high school operating on an eight-period day. The school offers a wide variety of courses, including accelerated courses in English and Mathematics ranging from Advanced Placement, Honors, and College Credit Plus courses. Briggs has a strong Business career-technical pathway with four consecutive classes where students learn industry concepts and skills to be successful. Additionally, many courses are offered in fine arts and world languages.

Honors Diplomas

High school students can gain state recognition for exceeding Ohio’s graduation requirements through an honors diploma. Students challenge themselves by taking and succeeding at high-level coursework and in real-world experiences. The Ohio Department of Education allowed students graduating in 2018 to earn one of six honors diplomas five of them are offered at Briggs. 

Below contains information from the Ohio Department of Education about each type of diploma. Briggs students have the opportunity to choose to pursue one of the following five honors diplomas:

Arts Honors Diplomas

Career Tech Honors Diplomas

General Honors Diploma Guidelines

Social Science and Civic Engagement Honors Diplomas

STEM Honors Diploma Guidelines

Honors Diplomas include dance, drama/theatre, music, and visual art. Students interested in pursuing an International Baccalaureate, Career Tech, STEM, Arts, or Social Science and Civic Engagement Honors Diploma will be required to complete a field experience, portfolio, or both. The first step is to contact your high school counselor and let them know that you are interested in earning an honors' diploma so they can help you correct sequence your courses so you can succeed.
