Briggs is a traditional and comprehensive urban high school operating on an eight-period day. The school offers a wide variety of courses, including accelerated courses in English and Mathematics ranging from Advanced Placement, Honors, and College Credit Plus courses. Briggs has a strong Business career-technical pathway with four consecutive classes where students learn industry concepts and skills to be successful. Additionally, many courses are offered in fine arts and world languages.

CAREER-TECHNICAL EDUCATION
Grade Promotion Requirements
EACH YEAR, students must earn AT LEAST five (5) credits, four (4) of which must be in the required curriculum**, to be promoted to the next grade level. OF THE FOUR (4) REQUIRED, ONE MUST BE IN MATHEMATICS AND ONE IN ENGLISH AT EACH GRADE LEVEL.
**Required Curriculum – IN GRADES 9-12 required curriculum means the core courses that include English language arts (reading and writing), mathematics, science, social studies, health, and physical education. One technology credit and one academic elective credit will be considered to be part of the core required curriculum (CCS BOE Policy 5172).
In addition to district graduation requirements, students may earn any of the following:
- CCS Certificate of College Preparation
- Earn 2 credits in the same Foreign Language
- CCS Certificate of Specialization
- 5 or more credits in any one specific area of study, academic, or elective
- CCS Diploma of Distinction
- Requires additional credit of both Advanced Science and Social Studies Elective, and 3 credits in the same Foreign Language (24 total credits)
- State of Ohio Academic Honors Diploma
- Meet CCS graduation requirements and Ohio Department of Education's Honor's Diploma
- State Recognized Industry Career Credential
